Website Creation Steps

The Beginning

Website Creation Steps – Mark Jones who is the son of Grandpa Jones and Ramona Jones approached me to build him a video training website a couple weeks ago. He plans on selling Banjo Training Videos which we will make available online and through DVD’s. I’ll be writing several posts on what I do each step of the way.

Mark Jones Music Lessons follow us as we build the page.

I thought it would be beneficial for my readers if I did a series on all the steps I take to build a website for a client. I invite you to follow these posts and learn the entire process of getting a client, discussing possibilities of what they want and working with them to satisfy all of their requirements so they will be happy in the end. I’ll be including a lot of the quirks of making videos, posting videos, storing videos, how to display videos on the site, pay buttons and all the stuff that happens behind the scene. You will learn a lot, so take the time to follow this series.

The really cool part of this is that Mark is probably the best friend I have. We just hit it off and it seems like we’ve known each other for a long time instead of only for about three years or so. My wife and Sue love to hike and enjoy nature. Sue and I like photography and she is teaching me the technical skills to photography. I love music and I’m learning to play guitar and sing while Mark has made a career in the music industry and Sue has a degree in music and plays fantastic keyboard.

So, we all have fun with one another and they are patient while backing me up with keyboards, singing harmony and bass guitar while I stumble along strumming my guitar and sing.  I already have a working relationship with them also. I built websites for both of their businesses; a site for Marks “Jones Recording Studio” and a site for Sue’s “Artistry Photography by sueann” website.

On top of me writing about my side of things on this project, Mark is also going to write posts on his Jones Recording Studio site about all the steps he’ll be taking to play and record the videos, right down to the equipment he will use, background for the videos, lighting for the videos creating the courses, writing the script to each video and breaking them down into Levels of learning. You get the idea. Everything you need to know to understand the entire picture from both sides.  I’ll also have to talk to Mark about moving the posts to the new domain, once I get the basic site up and running.    Marks First Post

Website Creation Steps – In my Next Post for this series (Tuesday, 17 April 2012) I’ll be discussing “Meeting with the Client” and “Talking Points for Future Discussion.” These are the steps I take to lay down items both myself and the client need to prepare for the real first meeting about the site.
